House Update #11 Bricks & Re-roofing

Wow it has been a busy few months! We have had the new section of the house bricked and the whole house re- roofed. What a change this has made.
From the outside the house looks finished. And it looks fantastic!

The weather was so hot during this time, and so we kept the tradies cool with drinks, food and loads of ice creams (literally being thrown up to them on the roof)!

The bricks went up first, and this was a fun process to watch, brick by brick the house was built. The bricky reminded me of a baker - the mortar had to be just the right consistency - just like dough. The weather or time it was out made a difference, so each day he had to alter it depending on these things.

Here are some photos;

Then the roof went up - first the trusses had to go up. This was hard work. A crane had to come out and the boys worked quickly and precisely, putting it all together like a giant puzzle.

After that the old tiles had to come off the existing roof, then the new iron roof sheets went on.

We went with iron for two reasons, one it's lighter on the structure. But the main reason was because my husband likes the look of it and he likes to listen to the rain at night.

It's all coming together so nicely and next we will move on to the internal part of the build. But for now here are some photos of the roofing. Also a few of some internal demo and a photo that shows the 3 different types of flooring this house once had! These little finds are very interesting and give us a little sneak peek into this houses life!

Enjoy!
