Join Us - Turning Our Yard into A Urban Backyard Farm!

Hello! So this is an exciting post! We have a bit of an announcement......

But before we make it, let's go back a bit. To May 2013 to be exact! That was when the Four Chooks Farm blog was born! We had chickens, and vegetable gardens, and fruit trees. Each season, each planting, each harvest we were learning new things, and needed somewhere to put what we had learned. Enter the Four Chooks Farm blog! It was an online diary for us to document what worked, what didn't, and what new skills we had learned. A reference point, so we could look back to past seasons. We then put recipes that we loved, recipes from our kitchen garden. Photos from family trips, and documented the things that helped enrich our lives.

What happened next was unexpected. People started to email us and ask gardening, and cooking questions. I didn't know I hadn't clicked the 'private' button. Other people were reading our blog! Other people were being inspired to start their own gardens, learn to cook from scratch and  get back to a simpler way of life. We loved it!

Over the years we added a Facebook page and more recently an Instagram account.

So.... Back to our announcement. Last year we bought a new house and Mr Four Chooks Farm has been tirelessly renovating it. Now that the house is finished, it's time to start our garden. Here is where it gets exciting - WE WANT YOU TO JOIN US! YES - JOIN US!

We are starting with a blank slate (the bobcat literally flattened the whole yard!) so we are going to document, step by step, how to take an urban backyard to a food producing urban backyard farm! Let's get our hands dirty, get those green thumbs out and get dirt under our finger nails!
