Well summer is around the corner and if you live in south Australia then you know that it gets HOT HOT HOT in summer! Not only is it hot here, but it's a dry heat, so it's perfect conditions for hair damage.

What to do you ask? Well I'm glad you did. I have enlisted the help of a dear friend of mine who is an amazing award winning hairdresser to do a guest post! (Yes this is our first guest post....yippee round of applause)!

I'll leave you in her very capable hairdressing hands.....

Hello all,

With the strong heat of our summer very close now, it's time to start thinking about protecting your hair from the elements. So here are my do's and don't's for keeping your hair healthy this summer.

Do's for healthy hair this summer:

1) If your out and about in the sun, you will perspire and your scalp will produce sebum (oil) so make sure you get scrubbing and keep your scalp clean, a clean scalp equals a healthy scalp.

2) Regularly apply a deep conditioning mask to prevent hair drying out.

3) Use a heat protecting product when going out in the sun and using hot irons/straighteners/curlers.

Don't's for keeping your hair healthy this summer:

1) Don't over use hot irons, straighteners, curlers.

2) Never leave chlorine or salt water in your hair.

3) Reduce the use of hairspray as it contains alcohol and ethanol which is very damaging to your hair, and can cause a build up and result in breakage.

I hope this helps you all to have healthy beautiful hair this summer!

If you have any other questions please leave a comment below and I will get back to you.
