Moving Forward!

Guess what…

Four Chooks Farm has MOVED!

We have moved closer to the city if you would believe it. But because of work and the places we have to frequent it was a choice we made. The good news is, our block is 200 sq meters bigger than the last and we now have rear access (by car) to the property! Not to mention that its full (FULL) of well-established fruit trees! So that makes us very happy indeed!

The house itself is about half the size of the last one and muchmuch older. We built our last house, this one the owners built in the 1950’s! We plan to renovate and extend, keeping the character of the original home. Its clean and tidy and more than good enough to live in whilst we work out what we want to do. We have only been her a few nights but really do love our little home! Its cosy, and everyone is always together so its been really nice and has helped us settle in quickly.

It was hard to leave our other home though. Like I mentioned we built that home. We bought our children home to that house, and raised them there. Its not the house itself that I miss – but the memories that we made there over the last almost 8 years. Every part of the perfect gardens we did, all the things that made that house a home, we put them there. We are leaving the most amazing neighbours that cried with me when I told them that we were moving. But as they say, onwards and upwards! So this is just the next chapter in our memory book! And we will have lots to keep us busy here, not just the renovating but in the garden! Four Chooks Farm would not be if it were not for our edible garden! So here is a rundown of what is already here:

6x Olive trees
3x Pomegranates
1x Orange tree
1x Lemon tree
6x Grape vines (red and white)
1x Apricot tree
4x Peach trees
4x Artichokes
3x Fennel bushes
2x Spinach plants
1x Sage bush
3x Loquat trees
1x Fig tree

WOW! That’s what is already here – and really really well established!
Some have run their life course and are not producing much so they will go in place of new ones, and some will have to go because we don’t eat them, or there are just too many of them.

We also have taken the young trees from our last property, they include:

1x Banana palm
1x Cherry tree
1x Orange tree
1x Mandarin tree
1x Lemon tree

We also took a few strawberries, and herbs.

Oh and most importantly our dog (Jack) and our 6 hens (Foghorn Leghorn, Bula Bula Lightning McQueen, Princess, Doris, Edna and Henny Penny) have come happily along with us – they are out every day exploring their new bigger yard!

So, on our Blog/Facebook page over the next (hopefully) 12-18 months I hope you will enjoy following us on our new journey of building and planting and turning this house well and truly into our new home!
