House Update #1 - Front Garden

My husband is driven and proactive. He is one of those men, that if there is a job to be done he just gets in and does it. If it needs fixing, he'll fix it. If it needs digging, he'll dig it. If it needs to be moved, he'll move it. His work ethic is one of the things that I love about him, and today's work was no exception.

The front yard of our new house was full - full of olive trees. If we had more room we would have kept them for olive oil. But the fact is, we don't, and we don't eat all that many olives, so we decided to pull them out. Eventually we will plant citrus and other fruit trees out the front, trees that we know we will eat.

That's one of the biggest things about planning a garden or planting in your garden. What do YOU eat? What do YOU like - flowers, fruit trees or both? There is no point growing things that do not bring you pleasure or things that will just go to waste.

Hence our decision today. It only took a couple of hours but look - we (of course when I say we I mean my husband!) dropped all the trees in the front yard! And WE (this time all of us!) loaded them into the trailer! All 500 kilos of it!

Wow! It has made a huge difference! We still have a lot of work to go, removing stumps, transplanting the flowers, digging up concrete, and levelling out the whole yard before we can replant, but I'm proud of our work today! We achieved a lot! And saved so much money by doing it ourselves!

This was the first big step that we have taken to start our renovation! Yippe! And we have only been here 1 week! See what I mean about my husband being proactive!

Here are a few before and after pictures of our front yard! And your first sneak peek of what our cute home looks like :)

Enjoy!
